Tom has been with Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston for more than 22 years and has been teaching real estate for over 30 years. Tom helped open the original HPW Real Estate School located in Durham in 1986 and has grown the program into one of the most successful schools in the entire state.
Tom also writes much of the school’s course material and continuing education courses. He uses his extensive experience in the industry to create courses that you can’t get anywhere else. Tom finds great value in providing quality content to real estate professionals, and HPW Real Estate School is known as the place to go to build a good foundation for a career in real estate. Tom’s phone is ringing off the hook with people seeking his real estate expertise, and he stays busy throughout the year teaching continuing education courses.
He is the recipient of the North Carolina Real Estate Educator of the Year award and a two-time winner of the North Carolina Real Estate Program of the Year award given by the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association. Tom is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), North Carolina Association of Realtors (NCAR), Raleigh Regional Association of Realtors (RRAR) and the North Carolina Real Estate Educators Association (NCREE).
Tom attended Appalachian State University where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Real Estate. Tom has been married to his wife, Jo, since 1993. When he is not working, Tom works toward “discovering the next great Pinot Noir” with his wine group. He has a passion for gourmet cooking, and is often asked to share his impeccable recipes. To relax after a busy day, Tom enjoys sitting in front of the fireplace next to his wife, a glass of wine in hand, and their two dogs sleeping in front of the warm fire.
